HARARE - While the onset of the rains this week brought relief to farmers across the country, three Hatcliffe families will forever remember this Monday evening as black day after three men were struck to death by lightning.

Although details of what exactly happened were still sketchy yesterday, Harare provincial police spokesperson Tadious Chibanda confirmed the deaths and injuries to seven people in an interview with the Daily News yesterday.

“I can confirm that three male adults were struck by lightning on Monday evening around 1900 hrs.

“They were drinking beer at a shabeen when disaster struck. The three died on the spot while seven were injured and are recuperating at Parirenyatwa Hospital,” Chibanda said.

He said the names of the deceased are being withheld until their next of kin are advised.
