HARARE - We write to place on record an unusual brief that we have received from Dr Kereke. We have been obliged to advise you of this brief as in our humble assessment, a real and substantial threat to his life may have occurred.

During the course of Sunday, July 8, 2007, the writer received a number of distressed messages from our client. Because the writer was attending a funeral in Ruwa, he could not attend physically on the client.
 
The background to the incident are set out in an affidavit which we have assisted our client in preparing via the telephone due to the urgency of the matter.

We have since invited him to come and depose to this affidavit as soon as his official duties allow. The affidavit will be attached to this letter for your record.

You will see from its contents that six as yet unidentified persons fired gunshots thereby threatening our client’s life. Given the prior documented death threats previously received by our client, we are concerned that our client’s life is in clear and present danger.

We have therefore recommended that this be placed on record with both yourself as his employer and all state investigative organs.

Please allow our client the time off to travel to Masvingo with your security officers to lodge a formal report and also conduct a full investigation. July 9, 2007
