Zim woman's shower death ministry
Wednesday, 10 October 2012 10:02
LONDON - The family of a Zimbabwean woman found dead in the shower in a small English town says it feels “let down” by an inquest which recorded an open verdict.

Ntando Moyo, 35, was working as a live-in carer when she was found unconscious by her employer carrying out a routine site check at the home of an elderly woman in Nether Wallop, Hampshire, on March 22.

Paramedics attended but she died at the scene. An inquest into her death held at Winchester last Wednesday concluded that her death was unexplained after the coroner was unable to ascertain the cause of death despite extensive reports from doctors, forensic scientists and police officers.

Deputy coroner Simon Burge said that pathologists had not ruled out sudden unexpected death syndrome, but neither could it be confirmed as the cause of death. He recorded an open verdict.

Ntando’s sister Khanyisela Moyo said: “I’m still at the stage I was when I buried her.”

She says the inquest was too limited in its examination of facts.

She added:“I feel let down by the police investigation. I lost my only sibling and I was hoping to get answers. I just think the investigation should have covered more.”

Ntando was buried in a small English town called March, near Peterborough, on April 5. — New Zimbabwe
