‘Zanu PF abusing Joshua Nkomo’s name’

BULAWAYO - Welshman Ncube’s MDC has accused Zanu PF of abusing the late veteran nationalist Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo’s legacy to shore up dwindling support for the party in Matabeleland.

Edwin Ndlovu, the smaller MDC’s Bulawayo provincial spokesperson told journalists at the Bulawayo Press Club last Friday that Zanu PF was using the late nationalist’s name to curry favour with the electorate.

“Zanu PF pretends to like Nkomo, we all know they have done that before and they are still doing that,” said Ndlovu.

“Nkomo never had peace in his life as Zanu PF persecuted him.

“So heartless is the party that even from his grave they continuously torment his soul,” he said.

He said as the country hurtles towards the watershed elections expected next year, it was now predictable that Zanu PF will use the former Vice President’s legacy to try and drum up support from Matabeleland, he said.

“As we are heading for the 2013 elections you will see how Zanu PF officials will come up stampeding to praise Nkomo as well as promising to complete all his projects which are lying idle in the region, yet in reality they know what they need,” he said.

“I tell you Zanu PF will never be sincere or rather progressive in any way.”

He said projects initiated by Nkomo such as the Ekusileni Medical Centre and the international airport in Bulawayo named after the veteran statesman among others, were yet to be completed.Smaller MDC faction leader Welshman Ncube.
