Thursday, 17 January 2013 10:55
HARARE - Celebrated gospel couple Charles and Olivia Charamba has been appointed road safety ambassadors by the country’s traffic regulatory body.

Zimbabwe Traffic Safety Council appointed the Charambas alongside football legends George Shaya and David Mandigora.

The quartet is tasked with taking the message of safe driving to the public.

Principal director in the ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, Eric Gumbie, said government hopes to utilise their ambassadors’ popularity and appeal to boost safe driving campaigns.

By the end of the festive season, police said they had recorded 260 deaths compared to 147 recorded last year.
