Thieving hooker, cops to remain in prison
Tuesday, 05 February 2013 09:54
HARARE - Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe has dismissed an application for refusal of further remand by a hooker who allegedly connived with two cops to rob a man of $9 000.

Mahwe said the matter is “very serious” and will cause pandemonium in society if the accused are released.

“This is a serious matter and the State should not rush to finish investigations. If the accused persons are to be released it will cause pandemonium in the society and the people will lose interest in the courts,” said Mahwe.

Faith Dzikiti, 22, allegedly connived with two police officers Livemore Mavula, 29, Tatenda Godini, 24 and two other men Tapiwa Musarurwa Munava, 30, and Munyaradzi Nyamukapa, 28 to rob the complainant, whose name is not mentioned in State papers.

The court heard the complainant met Christopher Rosi, a taxi driver at Tiperary’s night club and told him he had $9 000 and was on his way to Musina, South Africa, to buy a car.

He asked Rosi to accompany him to South Africa and the two agreed that Rosi would get $500 for the services, the court heard.

Rosi allegedly introduced the complainant to Dzikiti alias Kim, before leaving to inform his employer about the journey.

According to State papers, Dzikiti is a self-confessed commercial sex worker.

While relaxing in Dzikiti’s room, the court heard, Dzikiti called Munava intending to rob the complainant.

Munava allegedly teamed up with Mavula, Godini and Nyamukapa armed with a pistol and went to Dzikiti’s flat.

Upon arrival, it is alleged that the trio produced police identification and a pistol.

They started assaulting the complainant accusing him of dealing in drugs.

They allegedly searched the complainant and took his $9 000 before tying him with a rope and bundling him into their vehicle.

The complainant was later dumped in Mabvuku where he was helped by members of the public. - Ivan Zhakata
