Kereke is man of violent disposition: Chihuri
Wednesday, 10 October 2012 10:29
HARARE - Dear Governor,

RE: Criminal allegations against Dr Munyaradzi Kereke

I have the honour to write and ask you Honourable Governor to kindly accept my greetings.

Honourable Governor, I write to advise that investigations have been carried out in connection with the criminal allegations against Dr Munyaradzi Kereke.

Honourable Governor, from the contents of the attached memorandum, one is left with no doubt that Dr. Kereke is a man of violent disposition, who is a heavy drinker as well.

It is quite clear that he cannot control his temper and temperament at all, and this renders him unfit to possess a firearm.

It is beyond reasonable doubt that if Doctor Kereke continues to possess a firearm, he is a danger to himself and others. The reasons for his temper in this case are very frivolous to warrant such reaction from a man of his status both socially and professionally.

I have no reservation, Honourable Governor, in recommending that such a character is unfit to be working in the Governor's office, considering the damage such a character may bring to the reputation of the office in particular and the Reserve Bank in general.

Of course, Honourable Governor, that is for you to decide.

Honourable Governor, the charge of discharging a firearm being preferred against Dr Kereke will be processed through the courts of law, whilst the other charges of assault and malicious damage to property have been dropped since the complainants refused to place charges against him.

Respectfully forwarded for your convenience, Honourable Governor.

I thank you.

Commissioner of the police

Yours Sincerely
19 July 2007
