Woman assaults cops
Thursday, 04 April 2013 10:47
HARARE - A 31-year-old Bulawayo woman is in court after she allegedly assaulted a man at a pub, before punching police officers trying to break the violence.

Primrose Mzizi is now out on $50 bail granted by magistrate Takunda Witness Mtetwa. She faces assault and resisting arrest charges.

She will appear in court again on April 17.

Prosecutor Malvin Nzombe told the court that Mzizi assaulted police constables only identified as Chinamatira and Dube at Club Royal along Lobengula Street on March 30.

The officers were on street patrol and were baffled to see Mzizi assaulting an unidentified man.

Efforts to restrain her earned them flak after Mzizi allegedly turned on them and slapped Chinamatira on the left cheek.

His partner, Dube tried to handcuff Mzizi but only managed to cuff one hand.

She then kicked Dube in the stomach and on the right thigh.

The beleaguered cops, who had been overpowered by Mzizi, were rescued by members of the public who assisted the cops to subdue and arrest the woman. - Nyasha Chingono
