Five Daily News scribes nominated for ZUJ awards

HARARE - Five Daily News journalists have been nominated for this year’s National Journalistic and Media Awards (Njama).

The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (Zuj) announced the nominees at a press briefing in Harare yesterday.

Reporter Bridget Mananavire leads with two nominations under the Environment and Features categories.

Entertainment editor Margaret Chinowaita has been nominated in the Arts and Entertainment category.

Multiple award-winning photo-journalist Tsvangirai Mukwazhi, who has also been named among Zimbabwe’s 100 most influential young Zimbabweans, has been nominated for the photographer of the year gong.

The Daily News Online Editor, Eric Chiriga has been nominated under the Insurance category while sports reporter Farayi Machamaire has been nominated under the Sports Reporter of the Year.

There will be 16 categories of which 13 will have platinum prizes that carry $3 000 prize money, according to ZUJ deputy president Michael Chideme.
