HARARE - Former Studio 263 actress and ZiFM disk jockey Tinopona Katsande’s boyfriend Brian Munjodzi was freed on $100 bail after appearing in court charged with domestic violence.

Munjodzi, 39, yesterday appeared before Mbare magistrate Reuben Mukavhi on domestic violence charges.

According to state papers, Munjodzi assaulted Katsande after she paid him a visit at his place of residence last Saturday.

The court heard Katsande arrived at Munjodzi’s place at 8:30pm.

Prosecutor Mirirai Mavhemwa told the court Katsande proceeded to the bathroom, soon after entering Munjodzi’s house.

Munjodzi allegedly called Katsande who told him she was tired and wanted to rest.

The court heard Munjodzi pounced on Katsande, pulling her hair. He allegedly slapped and kicked Katsande on the chest.

Katsande allegedly bled from the nose and mouth as Munjodzi continued assaulting and strangling her.

The court heard Munjodzi continued assaulting Katsande despite a neighbour’s plea to stop.

Munjodzi further slapped Katsande before ordering her to go and sleep.

Katsande sustained facial injuries and she is currently on medication.

Magistrate Mukavhi remanded Munjodzi out of custody to November 29. - Kaleen Gombera
