BULAWAYO - Welshman Ncube, leader of the smaller MDC by legislative representation, has suggested that officials in Zanu PF’s politburo could be high on weed, given the wide-sweeping amendments they have made to the Copac draft constitution.

“We wasted three years asking what kind of constitution you wanted and you spoke for yourselves and now they have written their own constitution, which even someone who has smoked mbanje cannot even write,” Ncube told a recent rally at Embondweni in Insiza South.

Ncube said Zanu PF had “reefer madness mentality” and displayed blatant disregard for the will of voters by stalling a draft constitution already agreed to and signed by representatives of all the three ruling parties in the coalition.

Ncube said the people spoke clearly for devolution, but Zanu PF had thrown this out the window.

“They want all the money for this country to remain centralised in Harare so that they can construct roads that lead to their kitchens in Zvimba,” he said.

Zvimba is President Robert Mugabe’s home village.

By rejecting devolution, Ncube said, Zanu PF wanted to have the opportunity to corruptly benefit from the country’s resources at the expense of the nation.

“We better have no constitution at all if it does not have devolution of power,” he said to rapturous applause from villagers.
