‘More PM staffers arrested’

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai
HARARE - Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s office has claimed that police has picked up two more staffers.

Luke Tamborinyoka, Tsvangirai’s spokesperson, said the two officers employed in the PM’s media and communication wing were picked up in the afternoon yesterday.

Zororai Mudariki and Brian Mutusva are the latest addition to the growing list of people working in the PM’s office who have been arrested.

Four other staffers who include research director Thabani Mpofu were last week released on bail and are being charged with impersonating police officers.

“We view this as harassment by the police. The principals talked about this matter and last week agreed that the behaviour of the police was not good and was tainting the image of the country ahead of polls,” said Tamborinyoka.

Contacted for comment police spokesperson Charity Charamba said she was still to be informed of the arrest. - Staff Writer
