HARARE - Eight schools and clinics in Chikomba East Constituency have been re-opened to continue with their operations following a donation of $2 000, by TV Sales and Home towards rehabilitation of water boreholes and water dips in the constituency.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the constituency Member of Parliament of the area Edgar Mbwembwe and Senator Gladys Mabhiza were grateful for the lifeline they had received from the company.

“Chikomba East is a remote and dry area and we were having problems in that two clinics and six schools were facing closure because there is no water. The community had to look for a company to help in drilling boreholes. With this money the schools and the clinics have been saved and are going to remain working,” said Mbwembwe.

Chikomba Development Committee Trust board chairperson Lance Jena welcomed the donation saying it would go  a long way in helping the community, which was lagging behind in development.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held at TV Sales and Home offices in Newlands, Finance director Joseph Kamasho said this was part of his company’s social corporate social responsibility programme.

“We are proud to support the Chikomba East project which will lead to sustainable growth in an area that is particularly drought prone,” said Kamasho.

Among the beneficiaries of the assistance are Mushipe, Mupatsi, Mutengwa and Matove schools as well as Musumba and Mufudziwakanaka clinics.
