MDC women assembly boss appointed Senator
Friday, 30 November 2012 11:11
HARARE - MDC Women Assembly secretary-general Sibusisiwe Bhuda Masara has been appointed a Senator.

Masara was sworn in yesterday in Parliament as a non-constituency Senator.

MDC Senate chief whip Misheck Marava confirmed the development.

“We welcome her in Parliament. It is a very important decision as it empowers women members in our party,” said Marava.

Marava said he was not in position to comment whether Masara was replacing Roy Bennett who sought political asylum in South Africa in 2008 claiming persecution from Zanu PF.

“It is a political decision made by our leaders. I was asked by the party leadership to help in the senatorial duties in Parliament,” said Marava. - Staff Writer
