BULAWAYO - A 55-year-old Mzilikazi man has been dragged to court for allegedly killing the boyfriend of an ex-lover.

Charles Chidemo has appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Takunda Mthethwa facing murder charges.

According to court papers, Chidemo went to Gertrude Hostels in Makokoba high density suburb to see his former lover when he bumped into Simon Mutero who was also waiting to see the woman.

Upon his arrival, Chidemo bumped into the now deceased Simon Mutero who coincidentally was also waiting for the same person.

Prosecutors say Mutero, who happened to be the new boyfriend, was seen by the accused communicating with the lady through sign language which did not go down well with Chidemo.

An irate Chidemo immediately confronted Mutero, lifted him up and hammered him to the ground.

It is alleged Mutero landed on his head and started bleeding from the nose and mouth before being rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he died a few days later.

Post mortem results indicated that Mutero had sustained brain damage and head injuries.
