Thousands attend Christ Embassy convention
Sunday, 21 April 2013 15:23
HARARE - A capacity crowd thronged Harare’s City Sports Centre and thousands had to make-do with large TV screens in the overflow area for Christ Embassy’s reverend Tom Amenkhienan conference on Friday.

An exuberant expression of joy met with the visiting reverend as he took to the alter following the powerful gospel ministration by international gospel artiste Ikiri Lawrence, who sang after Zimbabwe gospel prodigy Blessing Manyangadze.

Amenkhienan did not waste time releasing prophetic utterances saying he was bringing healing to the sick in the expectant crowd.

He then taught that Christian maturity and perfection is in the word of God, “the word of God on the lips of a believer is God talking,” he said.

“Anyone who does not have God in their lives just biologically exists,” said Pastor Chris’ protégé.

In reference to those who think the solution to their economic problems only lies in the Diaspora, the reverend urged the congregation not to be controlled by circumstances of their lives but to put their faith in God as a solution.

“A lizard in Africa will never be called an alligator in America.”

He said Christianity is full some that is why he preached the gospel of prosperity.

“A gospel to the poor that keeps the poor, poor is not a gospel,” he said.

After his teaching, thousands in the crowd gave their lives to Christ.

Pastor Ruth Musarurwa, the church’s leader in Zimbabwe said the three-day meeting marks the recognition of the progress the church has made in country.

Duncan Mabaye, a church member attributed the success of the programme to God.

“What I saw here is the manifestation of God’s power. I saw Pastor Chris in Reverend Tom and  Jesus Christ in Pastor Chris. Zimbabwe will never be the same again after this anointing.

“I will have to come early for the last two days to get a place to sit,” said Mabaye. The conference ends today. - Staff Writer
