Pastor Chris coming to Zim?

Pastor Chris
HARARE - Tonight’s epic gospel show in Harare led by award-winning gospel minister Sinach has fuelled  speculation that Pastor Christian Oyakhilome popularly as Pastor Chris — founding president of Believers’ LoveWorld Incorporated —  is finally coming to Zimbabwe.

His church is also known as Christ Embassy, a Christian ministry headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria.

Pastor Chris, through an anointed ministry spanning over 25 years and presiding over an ever-widening network of Christ Embassy churches and campus fellowships worldwide, ministers to one of the largest congregations in Africa.

During a  press conference after her arrival in Zimbabwe yesterday, Sinach revealed that Pastor Chris’s movements are determined by the spirit of God.

She urged Zimbabweans to pray for the visit.

“Pastor Chris’ visit is determined by the spirit of God. I would urge Zimbabwe to pray for his visit. However, I am sure our tour here is paving way for his visit,” said the gospel queen.

For over 15 years, Sinach has been ministering in music alongside Pastor Chris at the Healing School, several crusades and gatherings all over the world.

In Zimbabwe the church has quietly witnessed a phenomenal growth under the anointed leadership of Zonal Pastor Ruth Musarurwa and under the spiritual guidance of the regional leader, Pastor Ose Oyakhilome who also leads a strong following in South Africa.

Although its leader Pastor Chris is yet to set foot in the country, the church in Zimbabwe is continuing  to grow, a sign which many believers have attributed to as a true indicator of the anointing of God in the ministry.

Seven years ago Pastor Ruth was appointed as a cell leader by Pastor Chris, starting the ministry in Zimbabwe, and from such humble beginnings she has led the church to a growth of nearly 160 churches around Zimbabwe. Now she is a zonal pastor.

What has this time set expectations high about Pastor Chris’ coming  to Zimbabwe is the arrival of the powerful praise and worship team led by international gospel minister Sinach, Frank Edwards and Ikiri Lawrence for their show at the Harare International Conference Centre today.

The expectations which took root after Pastor Ose’s visit to the country last year reached fever-pitch during the church's Sunday service when an old man asked to see Pastor Chris at the church’s head office in Belvedere believing that he was already in Zimbabwe.

The Daily News spoke to several believers about Pastor Chris’ possible visit.

Thulani Maqueda, from Glen Norah and a church member, said the expected visit by the international pastor is most welcome.

“I am praying that after the Sinach show, she will give a good report to Pastor Chris that  more Zimbabweans are waiting for his miracles. God will definitely direct him to Zimbabwe, the Pastor is a man led by the spirit,” said Maqueda expressing other church members’ expectations.

Bobs Chivengwa a Harare businessman man said the pastor would be a blessing to Zimbabwe. “I know that when Pastor Chris comes, the whole nation benefits as has happened to other countries  he has visited. I watched the miracles at his Night of Bliss show in South Africa ( in 2010) and am ready to see him live in Zimbabwe."

Torerai Moyo a senior lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe also said the gospel show was a prelude for greater things to come in Zimbabwe, “Friday’s (today’s) gospel show is a sign of greater things to come.

Pastor Chris is a true man of God and is lead by the spirit,” said the academic. - Albert Masaka
