BULAWAYO - Two Bulawayo men who allegedly connived to dupe an unsuspecting motorist by manufacturing and supplying a fake vehicle registration document for a client’s car for R7 500 have been freed on $200 bail each.

Leopold Kudakwashe Mhike, 29, and Vikizitha Njere, 32, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Witness Mtetwa on fraud charges.

According to the charge sheet, sometime in February this year, the two alleged fraudsters received money from Meluleki Chisale to process a duplicate registration for Chisale’s Leyland truck.

The court heard that the duo produced fake vehicle registration papers and converted the bulk of the R7 500 to personal use.

The duo handed over the documents to Chisale who at first did not notice they were fake. Out of curiosity, Chisale took the document to a police station for vetting leading to the arrest.
