Wednesday, 09 January 2013 09:39
HARARE - A Harare hooker connived with two cops to rob a man of $9 000 after accusing him of dealing in drugs at one of Harare’s hottest nightspots, a Harare court has heard.

Self-confessed commercial sex worker Faith Dzikiti, 22, and the two police officers Livemore Mavula, 29, and Tatenda Godini, 24, are jointly charged with two other men Tapiwa Musarurwa Munava, 30, and Munyaradzi Nyamukapa, 28.

They have appeared before magistrate Tendai Mahwe on armed robbery charges.

The court heard the complainant, who is not mentioned in the state papers, met Christopher Rosi, a taxi driver at Tipperary’s Night Club, and told him he has $9 000 and was on his way to South Africa’s Musina town, to buy a car.

The complainant asked Rosi to accompany him to South Africa, the court heard.

The two agreed that Rosi would get $500 for the services.

Rosi allegedly introduced the man to Dzikiti alias Kim, a commercial sex worker, before leaving to inform his employer about the journey.

While relaxing in Dzikiti’s room, the court heard, Dzikiti allegedly called Munava intending to rob the complainant.

Munava allegedly teamed up with Mavula, Godini and Nyamukapa and went to Dzikiti’s flat armed with a pistol.

Upon arrival, it is alleged, the trio produced police identification and a pistol. They started assaulting the complainant accusing him of dealing in drugs.

They allegedly searched the complainant and took his $9 000 before tying him with a rope and putting him into their vehicle.

The complainant was later dumped in Mabvuku where he was helped by members of the public.

Magistrate Mahwe remanded the four in custody to January 21. - Ivan Zhakata
