HARARE -  A 37-year-old Harare man has died after being stabbed with a knife by three drunkards while he was trying to save a commuter ominibus driver from the three.

Harare police spokesperson Tadious Chibanda said the man, who cannot be named until his close relatives are informed, boarded the minibus heading to central business district along with three men who appeared drunk.

The police said the three started assaulting the driver along Simon Mazorodze Road from Highfield suburb after he had refused to drop them at a dangerous spot.

“When the man tried to rescue the driver, one of the three men pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed him in the back.

“He collapsed and was rushed to Harare Central Hospital before being transferred to Parirenyatwa hospital where he died,” said Chibanda.

The drunkards fled the scene and police have launched a manhunt.

“We want to urge members of the public to desist from fighting each other when they can solve their problems amicably,” Chibanda said.
