Facelift for Mbare Musika
Friday, 16 November 2012 11:30
HARARE - The country’s largest bus terminus, Mbare Musika, is set for a major face lift after a local bank availed a $400 000 loan facility for renovations.

Thomas Muzuva, the Harare City Council business committee chairperson, told the Daily News that ZB bank had extended the loan facility to rehabilitate Mbare.

“We want to erect a boom gate and put up sheds that are going to help our travellers rest in while they wait to board buses,” said Muzuva.

Located in the populous Mbare suburb, the rank has a capacity to accommodate over 800 buses, but had become an eyesore with vandalised toilets and other facilities.

The local authority has been battling to bring sanity to most city ranks where vice and criminality have taken root.

Government had to intervene by deploying armed police officers to clean up the ranks. - Xolisani Ncube
