HARARE - Since the day we broke the Nieebgate Scandal, political flip flopper Jonathan Moyo has gone ballistic attacking those critical of how the $1 billion Zimplats deal was implemented.

Of particular concern has been Moyo’s hysterical defence of the role played by advisory firm, Brainworks Capital, which stands to earn up to $45 million in fees if the whole deal is successfully implemented according to their own agreement with the National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board (Nieeb).

At the weekend, even President Robert Mugabe pointed out that Indigenisation Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere got it wrong during implementation of Zimplats deal. We agree with him.

But what is shocking is that Moyo, for reasons he has yet to explain, has been at the forefront defending the anomalies in the deal even against Mugabe’s advice.

This makes us wonder, why is Moyo crying more than the bereaved?  

The Daily News has and will maintain that the Zimplats deal stinks to high heavens.

The deal was done without going to tender, key government institutions were not consulted and an advisory firm stands to pocket millions of dollars which is now expected to be paid by the tax payer because Zimplats has refused to pay.

One would have expected Moyo to be disciplined enough to respect his leader (Mugabe) even if his  inclination is towards the so called “ G40”.

As it is Zanu PF elders remain wiser than all the books and eloquence Moyo displays.

His disdain for guidance from them makes him  a very dangerous person to Zanu PF.

Ofcourse, we know Moyo sometimes has his own ways.

For example, he presided over the inclusion of gay rights in the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Aippa) when he was the all powerful Information Minister and Mugabe signed it into law.

 Obviously, the old man does not know the Moyo inspired Aippa protects gay rights.

Moyo’s  chameleonic antics and views about everyone and anyone he views as an enemy do not impress us and we are sure, do not impress many around him.

Moyo has elected to venture his most uninformed views into every subject on earth as if he knows it all.
He is electing to be the face and super spokesperson of Zanu PF ahead of those we officially know to be the rightful persons to speak and comment on pertinent issues.

Picking a fight with us brings with it innocent victims and we are weary of that. We do not like that.

We know his appetite for fights and we are not in that business but be warned, we are not cowards either.

We would rather spend our energies on national and productive issues than petty squabbles with individuals who cannot sit comfortably and engage others without howling insults with every sentence they utter.

As the Daily News, we performed our national duty of unearthing this scandal because the future was about to be stolen from us through donating national resources for free while a few individuals lined up their pockets. - Staff Writer
