HARARE- Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe has urged government to review the legislation on blood transfusion.

Speaking as one of the co-patrons of National Blood Transfusion services yesterday, Khupe said she is going to present a paper to government and Council Ministers on the national blood policy.

“There is a need to ensure that the legislation of blood transfusion backs the desire of the national blood policy. And I plan on presenting a paper before government,” she said.

Khupe said she is also going to advocate for Cabinet ministers and members of Parliament to donate blood in order to raise awareness.

“I am going to fight very hard to make sure that ministers and the general public donate blood and that more funding is raised for blood transfusion,” Khupe said.

“Women die because of the unavailability of blood and we need to support the fundraising for blood donation through raising awareness and approaching corporates to save lives. We all have a vital resource that we can donate, that is blood,” she said.
