‘Mugabe to die in office’
Sunday, 24 February 2013 12:22
HARARE - The Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) says it will work extra hard to ensure President Robert Mugabe dies in office.

Addressing reporters in Harare yesterday to articulate the church’s position on the forthcoming constitutional referendum and elections, church president Johannes Ndanga said Mugabe should rule until death to fulfil a 1934 prophecy by Shonhiwa Masedza, founder of the Johane Masowe church.

Ndanga said the apostolic and Zionist churches affiliated to his organisation are disappointed that restrictive measures imposed on Mugabe and his inner cabal remain in place despite calls for free and fair elections.

“As the ACCZ we stand guided by a 1934 prophecy by prophet Masedza that Mugabe would rule this country until he dies hence we will support him at the elections to ensure the prophecy comes to pass,” Ndanga said.

ACCZ is an ecumenical body of 600 indigenous apostolic and Zionist churches in the country claiming a membership of 9 million congregants. - Mugove Tafirenyika
