Carnival year-end in Vic Falls
Thursday, 20 December 2012 17:58
Victoria Falls
HARARE - Victoria Falls is set to have its biggest ever end-of year-party.

A music carnival will take place in the resort town from December 29 to New Year’s Eve that will feature among others superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi and South African music sensation Zahara who has performed twice in Zimbabwe before.

Also coming from South Africa is Graeme Watkins Project and Plush.

Other artistes expected include Evicted (Zimbabwe), Chicken Bas (Vic Falls, Zimbabwe), DJ Francis (Vic Falls, Zimbabwe).

There will be other artistes from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa.

The largest alcohol supplier in the country, Delta Beverages, is the official partner of the festival which takes place annually in the resort town.

The carnival is a community project meant to empower local businesses to help boost economies of both Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

The organisers will donate infrastructure back to the local communities and schools after the event.

There will be a lot of fanfare on December 29 when festival goers will be transferred by the Victoria Falls Steam Train into the African Bush to a secret concert venue.

On the second night there will also be music acts and on the final day, which is New Year’s Eve, there will be New Year celebrations.

During the festival there will be community projects (planting of trees at local schools and other sites), circus, carnival rides, local stalls and other activities in and around the carnival grounds as well as the town of Victoria Falls.

The Vic Falls Carnival has taken a policy to involve both the Livingstone and Victoria Falls communities and to leave behind infrastructure that will benefit the local community.

Victoria Falls Primary School will have extra toilet facilities.

Victoria Falls and Livingstone businesses and local people will benefit immensely from the influx of tourists. - Entertainment Writer
