HARARE - Celebrated dancehall artistes Winky D and Freeman have joined forces to record their first song Munhu Wenyama.

The duo recorded the song last month sharing the disappointments they faced on their journey to fame.

Hillary Mutake, Freeman’s manager said the song urges people to be independent as it explores the journey of the duo to fame.

“They are narrating their journey to fame, highlighting how they were disappointed by the people they trusted,” he said.

Jonathan Banda, Winky D’s manager said the song narrates society’s ills, emphasising more on mistrust as it is the most prevalent problem that has dominated the society.

“The duo has put into music the problems in society,” he said. “The song is part and parcel of Life Yangu his latest album which is a mixed bag of the ailments of the society.”

The ninja president’s popularity soared when he released the hit song Musarove Big Man a track that led to the songster being nicknamed “Big Man”.

Winky D performed at the Glamis arena where he thrilled thousands of fans when he appeared on stage wearing a complete boxing suit of red and white together with Lipsy the “first lady” of vigilance music.

Winky D’s hits include Ninja Saturday, Sando Dzangu, Wakasara and Big Man.

Freeman is a youthful dancehall artiste who once performed alongside Mavado and Agent Sasco, two Jamaican international artistes in Zimbabwe.

The 24-year-old “doctor” became a household name after the release of his earth-shattering song Joina City which he featured Cally C last year.

Early this year he launched his album Last Man Standing which comprises songs such as Kuramba Ndaramba.

The Last Man Standing featured Princo Spice. - Kaleen Gombera
