HARARE - Berlin’s premier DJ Andi Teichmann will perform in Zimbabwe for the first time at the Shoko Festival on Friday September 21.

Andi will play alongside Zimbabwean DJ Marv Studd at the Chingono Stage, Alliance Francaise in Harare.

The event is bound to be a funky electro, house, techno and dub-step party made for party people.

The following day on Saturday September  22 on the King Pinn Mainstage at the same venue, Andi will do a live set featuring leading rap artistes on the local hip-hop scene.

The groundbreaking collaboration will include Munetsi (Chtungwiza) Flexxo (Mutare) and Psykotek from the city of Kings and Queens Bulawayo.

Andi is a celebrated German DJ and electro music producer, with a rich history in urban culture.

He was awarded the culture prize for the year 2002 by the German city of Regensburg for his long-lasting contribution to activities in youth culture together with his brother.

In cooperation with the Goethe Institut Nairobi, Andi was a co-founder of the “BLNRB” Project where bands from Berlin come together with some from Nairobi to perform in Germany and Kenya.

He currently hosts a monthly radio show on Berlin-based radio station BLN.FM.

The Shoko Festival will run over six days and will also feature live concerts, DJ parties, an international poetry slam, photo exhibitions, workshops, debates and much more.

The theme this year is “Take Over The Town” as Shoko spreads across the city into the suburbs and the townships.
