Friday, 31 August 2012 12:47
HARARE - Zimbabwe Fashion Week (ZFW) 2012 is back with a bang with the theme “Breaking Barriers” from its 2011 theme “Think and Live Green” which later became popular across Africa.

The showcase commenced yesterday and will end on Saturday.

This year’s event strives to exceed previous events and expectations to step into the international fashion industry inspired this year’s theme.

The theme revolves around technology and its progression and effects, not only in the fashion world but in all areas.

Executive Assistant at the ZFW Trust Darryl Double D said: “This year’s edition is bigger compared to previous editions. Over 26 designers are expected to showcase at this year’s event and these include both local and international designers.”

The showcase comprises artistic genres including musicians.

“Rutendo Denice and Ruth Watama will perform at the event. DJ Tich Mataz as well as Roki are expected to MC at the event,” Double said.

Collections from Zimbabwe’s Intisaar Mukadam, Sabina Mutsvati, Colin Ratisai and Yvonne Watadza’s House of Alpha Rose will be showcased at this year’s event.

The designers are expected to present different categories — some of them will present both women’s and men’s wear with different styles and personalities.

ZFW 2012 will take place at the VW showroom in Samora Machel Avenue in Harare.
