Freeman, King Shango to share stage in SA

HARARE - Dancehall doctor Freeman real name Emegy Chizanga will share the stage with seasoned Jamaican reggae artiste Capleton aka King Shango in December in South Africa.

King Shango will grace a leading South African event — Cape Town International Reggae Fest slated for December 8 and 9.

This is not the first time for the Joina City hit-maker to perform in Cape Town and on the event he will share the stage with other African dancehall artistes.

Bash Mouth and Ras Reggie are some Zimbabwean artistes that are to take part at the reggae fest.

Speaking to the Daily News, Freeman’s manager Hillary Mutake of PunchLine Entertainment confirmed the development.

“We received an invitation to participate in this event which is being organised by promoters in the United Kingdom,” Mutake said.

Capleton, real name Clifton George Bailey III a reggae and dancehall artiste is well known for his Rastafarian movement music.

The 45-year-old legend has a record label called David House Productions.

He is also fondly referred to as King David, The Fireman and The Prophet by his legion of fans.

King Shango has more than 10-albums under his belt including, Lotion Man, Alms House, Good So, Prophecy, I-Testament, One Mission, More Fire, Still Blazin’, Praises to the King, Reign of Fire, The People Dem, Free Up, Rise Them Up, Bun Friend, Yaniko Roots, Jah Youth Elevation and I-Ternal Fire among others.

Freeman is a youthful dance hall artiste who once performed alongside Mavado and Agent Sasco, two Jamaican International artistes in Zimbabwe.

The 24 year old “doctor” became a household name after the release of his earth shattering song Joina City which he featured Cally C last year.

Early this year he launched his album Last Man Standing which comprise songs such as Kuramba Ndaramba, Pressure a track which he also featured Cally C, The Last Man Standing featured Princo Spice.

Handikundike, Kakandinyangira, Kuzvitutumadza, Structure, Risk Murudo, MaInformer, Takava Leader, Love of My Life, Vanondigaira, Blessings and a bonus track Ndomira Semukono which he features Shinso Man are some of the tracks on his latest album. - Vasco Chaya
