HARARE - Music legend Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi has been nominated for ambassador of Acoustic Night All Stars European Tour.

Zimbabwe-German Society director Roberta Wagner was delighted by the developments “The Zimbabwe-German Society and the Acoustic night Stars are honoured by Ambassador Mtukudzi’s drive and enthusiasm to help young artistes in his busy schedule. This will go a long way in helping young musicians as they seek a breakthrough in their music careers”, said Wagner.

The team will receive sustainability tools from their German counterparts through imparting knowledge and skills for sustaining their businesses beyond the acoustic nights.

The Acoustic night began in 2009 with a handful of musicians and has now grown to be a prestigious event that attracts a huge audience.

Acoustic night established itself through producing high-quality live music and grooming upcoming talent with a burning desire to make it in the arts. It also provided a professional base for them to make music a viable career.

The musical event was held at the now popular venue and cultural hub, The Zimbabwe German Society.

On October 15, The acoustic stars and Mtukudzi will hold a press conference at The Zimbabwe-German Society offices and will later have a private luncheon with the touring artistes.

The luncheon will include discussions and sharing experiences as Mtukudzi gears and arms the acoustic stars to make it on stage.

Mtukudzi, a renowned soloist is set to perform at the closing day of Poetry Africa International Festival that will take place from October 15-20 in Durban.

The event will have satellite shows taking place in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana and Malawi before culminating at the major event in Durban. - Kaleen Gombera
