HARARE - Jah Prayzah walked away a happy man yesterday after he was awarded $1 750 for topping the 2012 Coca-Cola Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 during a prize-giving ceremony in Harare.

The 25-year-old artiste’s song Chirangano was number one while Gochi Gochi was number two.

The all-conquering Jah Prayzah actually had four songs in the top 50, which Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) officials said was a first.

His song Maria was number eight and Ngwarira Kuparara was at number 25.

He received the prize money while escorted by his wife, Rufaro Chiworeso.

Two other artistes who were in the top five, Munyaradzi Munodawafa and Nox also walked away with prize money.

Munodawafa pocketed $500 for his song Zodzo which was number three while Nox walked away $250 richer as he was rewarded for his hit song Ndinonyara which came fourth.

The artistes were not the only ones to smile all the way to the bank at the Coca-Cola- sponsored prize-giving ceremony.

Several loyal Radio Zimbabwe listeners who predicted the top five songs were also awarded handsomely.

11 listeners were rewarded with digital gadgets which included cellphones, radios and plasma television sets.

The top prize was a 42 inch LG LCD television which was won by David Malisema from Acturus Mine.

Malisema predicted all the top five songs correctly.

The second prize went to Rest Mpofu from Chinhoyi who got a 32 inch plasma TV for predicting four out of the five top songs correctly.

Mpofu has proved to be a serial winner of the Radio Zimbabwe competition.

Last year he walked away with a prize after he correctly predicted four out of the five top songs.

Winners were drawn from all parts of the country including Mutare, Murewa, Guruve, Lower Gweru, Beatrice, Chitungwiza and Harare.

Those who won cellphones include Agnes Derera, Brenda Mureru, Wonder Manyenyekeni and Mernard Munjeri.

The radio prizes went to Gwinyai Chikoko, Paidamoyo Zembe, Cornius Gatsi, Hebo Moyo and Washington Nherera won.
