Tuku set for the ghetto
Sunday, 30 December 2012 14:11
HARARE - New Life Nite Club in Budiriro is proud to be hosting a musician of Oliver Mtukudzi’s stature tomorrow for the second time since the club was established.

Tuku’s December 30 show is a replacement for an earlier show that was called off two weeks ago after the superstar experienced fatigue as a result of his diabetic condition.

New Life owner Fidelis Ngove says hosting Tuku is a major coup for his high density entertainment joint.

“I want to assure all Tuku fans that the legend will be at our place on Sunday and as usual it promises to be a massive show,” he said.

Mtukudzi manager Sam Mataure told the Daily News that the cancellation of earlier show at the Budiriro outfit was beyond their control.

“Nature forced us to cancel our concerts but now Tuku is fine we are promising to rock,” said the former Blacks Unlimited drummer.

“This time around fans should come in numbers and should expect fireworks from mudhara Tuku as usual,” said Mataure.

Taruvinga Manjokota popularly known as Sugar Sugar who was supposed to be the curtain raiser to Tuku’s show two weeks ago has been replaced by Tendai and Morgan Dembo, sons of late music legend Leonard “Musorowenyoka” Dembo.

Tuku, who has 60 albums to his credit, is currently riding high with his latest album Sarawoga.

Early this year Tuku announced that he will retrace his musical footsteps by performing in old joints in the ghetto which made him great as a way of celebrating his 60th birthday. - Entertainment Writer
