Jah Prayzah, Sulu in crowd pulling test
Wednesday, 09 January 2013 12:44
HARARE - Suluman Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah’s hit song Sean Timba which is the song of the moment in Zimbabwe, will headline the First Gig at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on January 25.

The two high-riding and award-winning musicians are set to share the stage with sungura veteran Madzibaba Nicholas Zacharia popularly known as the Senior Lecturer and Tendai and Morgan Dembo, sons of the late Zimbabwe music legend Leonard Dembo.

The promoter of the show Josh Hozheri is using the show to gauge the two artistes’ crowd-pulling power.

“These two musicians usually perform under well-established musicians such as Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso but they will be on their own this time around”, said the Jazz 105 owner.

“This is their time to prove their musical prowess in the cut-throat show business. We want to see if they are now able to pull a massive crowd on their own”.

Despite being regarded by some critics as a song that preaches violence, Sean Timba has taken Zimbabwe by storm ever since Syllabus was launched in November last year. The Daily News selected Syllabus as Zimbabwe’s best album for the year 2012.

Last year Sean Timba sent revellers into a frenzy at the fully- packed City Sports Centre on December 21 during the Last Gig concert that featured Mtukudzi, Suluman, Winky D and Munya Mataruse.

Jah Prayzah , who was performing a in rival Shut Down 2012 gig at Pamuzinda Highway X-Scape organised by Chipaz Promotions on the same day, rushed from the venue to the City Sports Centre to join Sulu belt out Sean Timba before he dashed back to the Shut Down 2012 gig. - Vasco Chaya
