HARARE - South African house music disc jockey and producer Dj Cleo is returning to Zimbabwe for a concert in the sleepy town of Beitbridge on October 20.

Gift Petro, show organiser told the Daily News that all is set for the Dulibadzimu Stadium (Beitbridge) showcase.

“It will be a family showcase, so we are expecting a large crowd and I believe it is going to be a memorable event. Dj Cleo will perform in Beitbridge for the first time,” said Petro.

He will be supported by high riding dance hall “nurse” Lady Squanda, South African-based urban groover Enoch “Nox” Guni and Talking Guitars among others.

Four days after Dj Cleo’s show, Petro said the popular Botswana diva Slizer, real name Naledi Kaisara, will rock the town again at the same venue.

Slizer will share the stage with comedian-cum-musician Freddy Majalima aka Kapfupi of Mai Nga fame, the jazz outfit Talking Guitars and the hilarious David Machowa aka Apama.

DJ Cleo, real name Cleophas Monyepao, is ranked among South Africa’s finest artistes.

He has made a name in the South African showbiz industry as a music producer of house, kwaito and hip-hop productions for musicians such as Brickz, Pitch Black Afro, Mzekezeke, Brown Dash, Mandoza, Kabelo and Skwatta Kamp, among others.

With more than seven albums to his name, DJ Cleo is arguably the hottest and most influential producer in South Africa.

Currently, he is riding high with the album Eskhaleni Phase 8, which features the songs Sizohlangana KoFacebook a darling of many entertainment lovers.

He hogged the limelight with his debut recording Will of Steel. The Dj is not a newcomer in the country — he previously brought Sports Diner International down with sizzling beats after rocking Chez Ntemba Nite Club in Harare. Dj Cleo has toured several countries in Africa, Europe and America where he rubbed shoulders with big names in the industry — the likes of Keith Murray of the United States of America.

On the other hand Nox, the Ndinonyara hit maker is flying high with his latest single Watsup.

He recently shared the stage with contemporary reggae artiste Mukudzeyi Mukombe aka Jah Prayzah in the United Kingdom.

Lady Squanda is also proving to be a force to reckon with in the local dancehall circles.

Her songs Rudo and Mabhawa nevanhu among others catapulted her to become a household name in the country. - Vasco Chaya
